From brief to finished video, one step at a time
Write the brief, then work through script, storyboard, keyframes, shots and timeline to the publish checks. Every step runs on your own machine.
The seven steps
Each step shows where it stands, and one button names the next thing to do.
- Step 1: Brief Say what you want to make and who it's for.
- Step 2: Script Scene cards to edit; any scene can be rewritten on its own.
- Step 3: Storyboard Every shot with what we see, the camera move and its length.
- Step 4: Keyframes A still frame for each shot, from your cast and references.
- Step 5: Shots Each shot made into video, with versions to compare.
- Step 6: Timeline The cut, with music, voice-over and captions.
- Step 7: Publish Checks for rights and consent before anything goes out.
Start with a brief
Name the project, write the brief, and pick a format and a style. The format shapes the script and the storyboard.
- Formats from TV spot and explainer to tutorial, unboxing and product showcase
- Styles from cinematic and realistic to 2D animation, storybook and ink sketch
- 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, with a target length
TODO: screenshot 02 brief (demo workspace)The Brief step of a sample project: the project name, the brief, and the format and style choices. Write and edit the script
The script comes as scene cards: what we see, the camera, the sound and the voice-over. Edit any card, or have one scene written again on its own. Every version is kept, so you can compare and restore.
TODO: screenshot 03 scriptThe Script step: scene cards with what we see, camera, sound and voice-over. Plan every shot
Each shot gets a description, a camera move and a length. Drag shots to reorder them, cast up to two characters with their outfit, pose and expression, and add up to ten reference pictures.
TODO: screenshot 04 storyboardThe Storyboard step: a list of shots, one open with its description, camera move and length. See each shot before it moves
A still frame for every shot, made from the cast, the background and your references. Make it again, or upload your own.
TODO: screenshot 05 keyframesThe Keyframes step: a still frame for each shot. Turn keyframes into video
Make a quick draft or the final version. Every render is kept as a version to compare, pick and approve, and you can trim a shot in the player without making it again.
- Each clip is checked for flicker, softness and exposure, with a fix for each
- Neighbouring shots are checked for colour jumps
TODO: screenshot 06 shotsThe Shots step: rendered clips with their versions. Cut, sound and captions
Join the shots with cuts or crossfades. Add licensed music, voice-over, sound effects and text on screen. Captions come burned in, as a separate file, or word by word for social clips.
- Music without a licence is refused
- Text on screen stays inside each format's safe zone
TODO: screenshot 07 timelineThe Timeline step: the cut with music, voice-over and captions. Checked before it goes out
Every export goes through the publish checks: rights, logos, text on screen, faces and consent, and music licences. Fix what they find, or a reviewer signs off with a reason. The export carries a provenance credential.
TODO: screenshot 08 publishThe Publish step: the checks grouped as Blocking, Needs a human and Passed. Finish it in your own editor
Export an editing kit with the clips as cut, the voice-over, the music and its licence, captions and timeline files. Import your edit and it goes through the same checks, plus a check that the footage comes from this project.
